Reese Rigby

Sensei Rigby started his karate training in 1969 in Dover, Delaware. He continued his training under Sensei Tom Lewis in Salisbury, Maryland. Sensei Rigby has been teaching at his own school since 1973. He was a successful competitor in the Delmarva tournament circuit in the 1970's and 1980's. In 1986, he met and started training with Grand Master Angi Uezu. He traveled to Okinawa in 1992 and again in 1995 to train with Master Uezu, and Master Uezu has visited Rigby's Dojo and home numerous times during his annual U.S. Tours. In 1994, Master Rigby started teaching Isshinryu Karate full-time, and currently has an enrollment of approximately 300 students. In 1996, Grand Master Uezu appointed him to co-Vice President of the O.I.K.K.A. along with Master John Devine. Grand Master Uezu promoted Rigby to Hachi Dan (8th degree) Black Belt in January 2003. In addition to his extensive accomplishments in Isshinryu Karate, Master Rigby's background includes a Delaware State Wrestling Championship. Master Rigby's lifelong goal has been to live and teach the art of Isshinryu Karate-Do exactly as Grand Master Uezu.
